About the Emirates Hand Surgery Society
The Emirates Hand Surgery Society was established since 2015 under the umbrella of Emirates Medical Association.
As per the Federal Law, the Emirates Hand Surgery Society is a non-profit based organization that aims to promote and direct the development of Hand Surgery field in the UAE, to foster education, study and research in Hand Surgery, and to disseminate knowledge of Hand Surgery among members of the medical and allied health professions as the following:
- Develop medical & health professions in the United Arab Emirates according to International Standards.
- Support its members in order to develop professional & administration work.
- Maintain ethics of profession in the field of Health Services.
- Participate with Health authorities as a strategic partner in order to establish with health rules, regulations and laws in the United Arab Emirates.
- Participate with the concern authorities in order to upgrade and develop health services in the UAE.
- Participate with all concerned authorities in scientific researches and ethics of scientific researches.
- The Emirates Hand Surgery Society is the sole professional society that serves Hand Surgery field in the United Arab Emirates.
MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
To become a member of Emirates Hand Surgery Society (EHSS), the health professional should be having active practice in the field of hand and wrist surgery. Any physicians with the following specialty and active practice of hand surgery can apply for membership of Emirates Hand Surgery Society.
Orthopedic Surgeons
Plastic Surgeons
General Surgeons
There are different membership position for EHSS based on your profession and region of practice.
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
Active membership may be granted to any individual who reside in the UAE and have the above mentioned specialty and active practice in hand and upper limb surgery.
CANDIDATE MEMBERSHIP
Candidate membership can be granted to any individual who shall be in his postgraduate training in orthopedic or plastic surgery in an accredited
training institutes.
INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP
International membership shall be granted to any individual who reside and practice outside UAE who have active practice in the field of hand surgery or who shall have contributed to the understanding and/or treatment of disorders of the upper limb.
AFFILIATED MEMBERSHIP
Affiliated membership shall be granted to any individual who meets the following qualifications:
Shall be fully licensed as an allied healthcare professional (e.g., hand therapist; occupational therapist; physical therapist; physician assistant; nurse practitioner; registered nurse) in a state,
territory, or province of competent jurisdiction, and shall specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of disorders of the upper limbs.
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
Honorary membership shall be granted to any individual who have or had active practice in the field of hand surgery and have contributed to the field of hand surgery worldwide whose presence in our society will add value and promote the field of hand surgery in UAE
